Return of The Creature From…
I have had so many people tell me they miss my blog. This warms my heart. I tried in January to set up a new one but a lot of the functions I wanted have gone bye-bye so I said Eh, Fuggetaboutit. And the font in the edit window is so small, which is a major bugaboo for these old eyes.
I tried Instagram, but I hate Instagram, Facebook, all those, not to mention the principle of social media. I quit Facebook ages ago and I only look at Instagram when I can’t sleep; I never post anything. Blogging is more my style. It’s cathartic. I started blogging around 2005, so it was part of me for many years. I think it helps me to be more creative. Because, who knows why, I haven’t been.
I have not had much to blog about anyway as I’m sidelined from golf (rotator cuff) and quilting (neck) until I get some PT, which I’m starting next week. I swear it’s harder to get PT appointments than it is to schedule surgery. Seriously. All these silver-haired boomer-warriors. Good for us!
I did sew something, I made these little placemats and coasters for my son and his partner. They live on a sailboat. The tiny dining table in the salon is beautiful wood and they worried about ruining it. They’re lined with heat-resistant batting and they’re double-thick.
We took a little trip to Arizona to visit my sisters, one of whom had a major heart attack and was not expected to live beyond two weeks. That was well over a month ago. She’s still with us, but my other sister (they live together) says she seems to be fading a little more each day. Meanwhile she is enjoying indulging herself with all her favorite forbidden treats like cheesecake, bacon, and doughnuts. The doc said to give her what she wants.
After that we drove up to Prescott. We have friends there, and many Californians are moving there, in fact the exodus was very much evident on the I-10. We were curious about the area, we’ve talked about the possibility of moving to Arizona. Man, the place is booming. All of Arizona is. It’s like a land-grab there. It was 22° when we said goodbye to our friends and headed north to I-40 (and Rte 66) in Flagstaff. It’s a long drive home through the Mojave Desert.
I did take one picture, these are the “Granite Dells.” The water was so clear you could read the print on a golf ball on the bottom, no problem. The sky is so blue and clear. Arizona is truly beautiful. But it’s not for us.
In other news, I had an attack of vertigo. I had never experienced vertigo before, and it was intensely frightening. I’m telling you about it because it’s very common and if you ever get it maybe you won’t be scared and you’ll know what to do. I found it to be very interesting. Worth sharing, anyway.
